Detailed Description

The tree grows up to 40 m high and has large diameters of over 300 cm. The bark is cracked and black-grey.

Occurrence

The Lebanon cedar grows in the mountains and subalpine regions of Anatolia and Lebanon, but also occurs in Turkey, Syria, Algeria and other African and Asian regions.

Characteristic and wood color

Sapwood and heartwood are well separated. The sapwood is pale yellow to greyish white, while the heartwood varies from reddish brown to dark brown. The structure is generally straight grained, the texture is fine and even. The wood has a strong, pleasant smell, but no specific taste.
