It all began over 100 years ago with a small mechanical carpentry workshop in Basel: in 1912, master carpenter Karl Friedrich Roser founded a business. He soon recognized the opportunity for wood veneer - and thus triggered the development from a local business to a regional and global SME.
The sons Otto, Walter and Hans Roser continue to expand the business from 1946. They trade in veneers and solid wood from all over the world and count Rolls-Royce and Steinway among their customers.
The third generation with Martin and Urs Roser and later Andreas Manger set further milestones: in 2004 the company moved into a modern office and warehouse building in Birsfelden near Basel. In 2014, concept.room is created in close cooperation with students of the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland FHNW: Here architects and interior designers can materialize their projects on a scale of 1:1. In 2016 Roser invests in a large Homag cutting machine.
In 2017, the two division managers Tobias Scherg and Patrick Altherr will become co-owners and form the new management together with managing director Andreas Manger and chief financial officer Victor Jung. In the same year, Roser takes a big step towards digitalization. With an attractive webshop we are now with our customers 24/7. The Roser family withdraws from the operative business.
The next step: On January 1, 2021, the well-prepared succession plan was implemented.
Andreas Manger relinquished operational management and concentrate on the strategic development of the company as President of the Board of Directors. Tobias Scherg takes over as Chairman of the Executive Board, which will continue to include Patrick Altherr and Victor Jung.
There will be another change in the Executive Board at the start of 2024. After more than 15 successful years as Head of Finance and Accounting at Roser AG in Birsfelden BL, Victor Jung has retired from the Executive Board as planned at the end of 2023. Christoph Roser will take his place on the Executive Board at the start of the year, making him the fourth generation of the Roser family to manage the long-established family business.
