Tradename De: Waldkirsche, Vogelkirsche, Wildkirsche

Raw density: 570 - 650 Kg/m3

Occurrence

The cherry tree is found throughout Europe, with the exception of the north and north-east, as well as in Asia Minor, the Caucasus and the USA.

Characteristic and wood color

Sapwood and heartwood are only slightly different. The sapwood is narrow, yellowish or reddish, while the heartwood is pale brown to reddish when freshly cut, later darkening to reddish brown. Sometimes the wood is striped or flamed and therefore very decorative, in quarter cut it has a beautiful silvery sheen, while narrow mirrors make it somewhat reminiscent of maple. Growth zones are clearly visible. The wood is straight grained throughout with a fine and even texture.
