Detailed Description

A rather large tree up to 40 m high with diameters of up to 80 cm. The shaft is knotless up to 25 m, without roots, very straight and cylindrical in growth. The bark is thin, smooth, from rust-brown to brownish-grey in colour and, like the plane tree, peels off in small scales, leaving light grey spots on the trunk.

Tradename En: Figured Ayan, Figured Anyaran

Properties

Raw density: 680 - 800 Kg/m3

Characteristic and wood color

Sapwood and heartwood well set off. The sapwood is about 3 cm wide, greenish to yellowish-white and not usable. The heartwood is lemon yellow with a striking lustre, darkening in air and light. Zones of growth are quite distinct. The wood is nicely striped and very decorative due to its absurdity.
