Tradename En: Pear Tree, Wild Pear

Properties

Raw density: 630 - 720 Kg/m3

Occurrence

Pear tree is widespread throughout Central and Southern Europe, with the exception of Great Britain and the Scandinavian countries. As well as in the Near East and West Asia as far as Siberia.

Characteristic and wood color

Sapwood and heartwood are not different. The wood has an even grey to reddish colouring, often with pith flecks and therefore decorative. Some logs show a "false resinous wood" due to a darker tint in the middle of the log. Pores and medullary rays are not visible, but the growth zones are. The wood is lustreless, hard and medium-heavy. It is of uniform density and fine texture.
