Flush doors and oak parquet flooring characterise modern residential building in Basel

In a private residential project in Basel, a purist interior concept was realised that impresses with its clear lines, high-quality materials and precise details. The architecture is characterised in particular by doors flush with the wall with aluminium frames and a calm oak parquet floor with a country house plank look.

The client's aim was a modern and timeless design with as calm an appearance as possible. Materials, colours and details were to be restrained and at the same time create a warm living atmosphere.

Calm room concept with oak parquet flooring

An almost knot-free wideplank in white oiled oak was chosen as the basis for the interior concept. The unchamfered design ensures a particularly harmonious and generous surface appearance. The parquet was not only laid in the living rooms, but also on the stairs, creating a consistent material concept throughout the house.

The natural surface of the oak brings warmth to the modern architecture and forms a calm backdrop for the minimalist design elements of the house.

Doors flush with the wall with aluminium frames

A central design element is the flush-to-wall designer interior doors, which integrate almost invisibly into the architecture. The doors were designed with plastered aluminium frames, giving them the appearance of doors without frames.

Only the fine shadow gaps reveal the doors in the wall. This solution is used particularly frequently in modern architecture, as it allows for clear and minimalist lines.

The doors are technically equipped with concealed hinges and an elegant magnetic latch lock. This creates a particularly calm appearance without visible fittings.

A design highlight is the glass door in the bedroom in graphite, which brings transparency and lightness to the purist interior concept.

Precise planning and realisation

Nico Strittmatter from Roser AG supervised the planning, consultation and on-site measurements. The work was realised by the company Kipfer from Grellingen.

Flat skirting boards in RAL 9003 complement the clear lines and harmonise perfectly with the doors flush with the wall and the calm parquet flooring.

The project shows how modern designer interior doors, high-quality materials and precise planning can contribute to a timeless and harmonious living concept.
