If you want to produce high-quality veneers, you have to start where it all begins: in the forest. In a recent article in the Schweizer Schreinerzeitung, Roser AG provides an insight into the challenging search for the right logs for veneer production.
Every tree has its own story to tell. Growth habit, location, climate and natural influences leave their mark on the wood and determine its future properties. This is why the selection of suitable logs is far more than just a purchasing activity - it is a combination of expertise, experience and a trained eye for quality.
During the winter months, Tobias Scherg and Antonio Garcia are regularly out and about in the forests of Europe. There, they assess potential veneer logs directly on site, laying the foundations for high-quality veneers that are later used in exclusive interior fittings, furniture and doors.
The article impressively demonstrates that quality does not begin with processing, but rather with the selection of the raw material in the forest.
