Damp in indoor spaces and on building sites often goes unnoticed for a long time. However, the potential consequences are significant: warped timber, mould, unpleasant odours, customer complaints and costly damage. On Wednesday 4 November 2026, the VSSM’s specialist event tour will therefore be stopping off at Roser AG in Birsfelden.
Understanding moisture and preventing damage
Under the title ‘Indoor Climate in a Nutshell – Understanding Moisture and Preventing Damage’, the Association of Swiss Master Carpenters and Furniture Manufacturers (VSSM) will be sharing practical specialist knowledge on wood, moisture and temperature.
Participants will learn how moisture arises, how it behaves in buildings and how critical situations can be identified at an early stage. Various specialist presentations will cover the following topics, amongst others:
- Fundamentals and standards relating to timber, moisture and temperature
- The new SIA 241 standard for joinery work
- Optimal indoor climate and building physics
- Moisture measurement and controlled ventilation on the building site
- Correct storage and installation of timber and timber-based materials
- Sealing connections for doors and windows
- Indoor air quality and timber moisture measurement in joinery workshops
- The use and benefits of humidification systems
Following the presentations, a drinks reception will provide an opportunity for informal discussions, professional exchange and networking with the speakers, participants and event partners.
