Warm, modern and purist: customised herringbone parquet solution in Basel

Together with Innenausbaumann GmbH, Roser AG was able to realise an exclusive, made-to-measure parquet solution for a stylishly designed detached house in Basel. The result impresses with natural materials, a special laying pattern and timeless elegance - and has now even been published by the renowned architecture magazine Modulor.

The customer's wish: a cosy floor with character that blends harmoniously into the purist room concept. A 2-layer parquet was produced in a special 765 x 153 mm format from almost knot-free, smoked oak in the "Natura" grading. The surface was brushed and finished with a natural-coloured, oxidatively oiled finish - for a pleasant room climate and a high-quality feel.

Herringbone installation - reinterpreted

Instead of the classic diagonal pattern, the herringbone pattern was laid parallel to the wall - a modern twist that gives the room visual calm and a subtle dynamic at the same time. A. Baumann from Innenausbaumann GmbH explains:

"The parallel herringbone pattern and the colour of the smoked oak give the floor a warm, modern look. The alternating direction of movement keeps the room in balance."
