Tradename De: Spitzahorn

Tradename En: European Sycamore, Norway Maple

Properties

Raw density: 560 - 810 Kg/m3

Occurrence

Norway maple has almost the same distribution area in Europe as sycamore maple, but reaches as far north as Norway, but less far south. It grows more in the plain and does not occur in closed stands either.

Characteristic and wood color

Sapwood and heartwood are not distinguishable. The wood is almost white to yellowish-white in colour when exposed to light and air, with a fine satin sheen. The structure is homogeneous and short-fibred, the texture very fine and even. Maple is a very popular wood for high-quality interior fittings, especially where special emphasis is placed on the white colour.
