Characteristic and wood color

The sapwood and heartwood are not sharply differentiated, with the sapwood being only slightly lighter. The heartwood is slightly darker than the European ash, mostly light brown with a nice, even colouring. The wood is very straight grained and of even texture, fairly firm, tough and elastic. Tamo grains are used to make veneers and are a much sought-after material. These veneers are very decorative.
