Tradenames and other names

Bot. Name: Acer macrophyllum

Tradename De: Muschelahorn

Tradename En: Quilted Maple

Properties

Raw density: 500 - 600 Kg/m3

Occurrence

The tree grows on the west coast of the USA and in Canada.

Characteristic and wood color

The sapwood and heartwood are only slightly different. The sapwood is broad and somewhat lighter than the heartwood, which is light brown, partly with a reddish tinge.
The splendid 3D effect resulting from the shell-like grain occurs only occasionally at the base of the trunk. It is not known where this spectacular effect comes from. This play of nature is very rare and therefore extremely sought after.
