Occurrence

The teak tree has its origins in Southeast Asia and is widely distributed in Burma, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. But it can also be found in West Africa, Costa Rica and Brazil.

Characteristic and wood color

Sapwood and heartwood are well separated. The sapwood is light yellowish-grey and narrow. The heartwood has a fresh golden brown colour, later darkening to light to dark brown when exposed to air. It is often interspersed with darker, almost black veins and therefore very decorative.
