Detailed Description

A tree up to 40 m high with a diameter of up to 100 cm. Shaft up to 15 m knotless and well grown throughout. The bark is thin, reddish-brown, cracked in young trees, in older trees it peels off in round scales.

Occurrence

The Zebrano tree is a rare wood species of West Africa, which grows especially in Cameroon, Congo and Gabon.

Characteristic and wood color

Sapwood and heartwood strongly different. The sapwood is almost white and not usable. The heartwood is grey-brown to light brown, matt-finished, with dark brown tangential stripes running through the wood every 5 to 10 mm about 1 mm wide. This makes Zebrano very decorative.
