Occurrence

The plum tree originates from Asia Minor and has come from there to Central Europe.
In the meantime the plum is also native to Southern Europe.

Characteristic and wood color

Plum has a vivid reddish-brown colour with violet veins. These violet stripes make the wood look particularly decorative and elegant. The plum wood has a beautiful shiny and smooth surface thanks to its hardness and fine even structure. The trunks have a tendency to twist and sometimes cracks are formed. The sapwood with its yellow colour clearly stands out from the heartwood.
