Project description:
The architects and carpenters deliberately favoured wood as an atmospheric element in the new construction and renovation of Thun High School. The focus was on ash rotary-cut veneer, which was used in unusually large dimensions and gives the rooms a bright, modern and at the same time natural appearance.
Mock Schreinerei AG realised its largest interior fit-out order to date with hundreds of doors, extensive wall panelling, built-in furniture and lockers. Roser AG supplied customised peeled ash veneer in large sheet widths - ideal for efficient, economical work with few joints. Depending on the room type, the veneer was pigmented in different shades of white to create either a calm, restrained effect (in the classrooms) or a cosy, warm atmosphere (on the ground floor).
The long, precise joints in the corridors and the deliberately different veneer appearance, which emphasises the natural character of the material, were particularly challenging. The micro-perforated acoustic panels also optimised the sound in heavily frequented areas.
The project impressively demonstrates how versatile rotary-cut veneer can be used - and how Roser AG uses its expertise to successfully support challenging interior fit-out projects.
